Terms of Service
Last updated: 18 October 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Mealconomy’s website, web app, and iOS/Android apps (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
1. The Service
Mealconomy helps you plan meals around a grocery budget: you tell it your budget, household, and preferences, and it generates a meal plan, shopping list, and cost estimates. Ingredient prices are drawn from regional pricing data and are estimates — actual prices at your shop will vary. We mark estimates that are less confident as such, but we don’t guarantee any price or total shown.
2. Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age for consent to online services in your country, if higher) to create an account. You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Mealconomy offers a Free plan with limited usage and a paid Premium plan with monthly or annual billing. Current pricing is shown on our pricing page and in the app before you subscribe.
- Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel any time; access continues until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
- Web subscriptions are billed by Paddle.com, our merchant of record, and are subject to Paddle’s checkout terms. Mobile subscriptions purchased through the App Store or Google Play are billed, renewed, and refunded according to Apple’s or Google’s own policies — manage or cancel them in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings, not in Mealconomy.
- We may change our prices or plans; for existing subscribers, changes take effect at the next renewal at the earliest, and we’ll give reasonable notice first.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to infringe anyone else’s rights.
- Attempt to bypass usage limits, scrape the Service at scale, or reverse-engineer it.
- Interfere with the Service’s operation or security.
- Share a shared read-only link (e.g. a meal plan or shopping list link) in a way that misrepresents whose plan it is.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the data you enter — household details, member profiles, receipt photos, and so on (“your content”). You give us a license to store, process, and display your content back to you as part of running the Service (for example, to generate a meal plan from your budget, or to render a read-only shared link you create). We don’t use your content to train third-party AI models or sell it to third parties.
If you create a public, read-only share link for a meal plan or shopping list, anyone with that link can view it without signing in. You’re responsible for who you share it with, and you can revoke it at any time from the app.
6. Disclaimers — please read this section
Mealconomy is a planning tool, not a medical, nutritional, or dietary professional. When you record an allergy or dietary restriction for a household member, we use it to filter the meals we suggest — but this is a convenience feature, not a guarantee. Ingredient data can be incomplete, a recipe can change, and mistakes are possible. Always check ingredient labels and packaging yourself before cooking or eating, especially for serious allergies. Mealconomy is not a substitute for reading labels, consulting a doctor or dietitian, or using your own judgment about what’s safe for you or your household to eat.
Meal plans, cost estimates, and shopping lists are generated automatically and are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mealconomy and its team aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including — without limitation — any adverse reaction to food, any difference between an estimated and actual grocery cost, or loss of data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or, for the Free plan, is limited to a nominal amount).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can’t be limited under applicable law.
8. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or discontinue the Service or features of it with reasonable notice where practical.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Albania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Albania, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country of residence entitle you to bring a claim in your local courts instead — nothing in these Terms removes protections you’re entitled to under the law of your home country.
